JAMAL ALI

I’m a brand and creative strategist with nearly a decade of experience in advertising. I help brands understand and express who they are and why they matter to their consumers. I believe the best strategy builds brand equity and inspires creative possibilities.

I’m most interested in work that is anchored in human truth, cultural observations, and a clearly stated problem. I develop foundational brand platforms, brainstorm on impactful brand actions and craft performance-based briefs that create cultural and business impact.

I’m a native New Yorker who you’ll often find in deep thought. My favorite saying is a socratic paradox; “I know that I know nothing”. It resonates because true wisdom lies in admitting one’s ignorance and in doing so the more open to learning you’ll become.

Before becoming a brand strategist, I spent four year in media investment at Wieden & Kennedy NY, working on brands including ABC Entertainment and KFC. While media taught me the importance of audience behavior, channel strategy and comms planning, it also sparked my curiosity around the decisions made before a consumer ever sees a campaign in the world. I became increasingly drawn to the creative development process - uncovering insights, framing problems, and building strategic narratives that inspired great creative.

After transitioning to brand strategy 4.5 years ago, I’ve been honing my craft. My experience across both of these disciplines allows me to combine analytical thinking with strategic storytelling and comfortably shift between big-picture brand challenges and executional details.

My inherent curiosity led me from biology to media to brand strategy and each role has built upon the last, ultimately shaping the strategist I am today.
